About Tony Porter
Tony Porter is an transport planning consultant with more than 20 years consultancy experience working on public transport, highway and multi-modal studies. He has been working as a freelance consultant for eight years.
He is an expert in multi-modal transport modelling using a variety of specialist transport planning packages such as Emme, Cube and TransCAD. His knowledge covers model specification and development, calibration and validation, and the use of models for demand and revenue forecasting. He understands and appreciates the specific practical modelling requirements of each type of transport project, whether local or strategic; traffic, public transport or multi-modal; public sector or private finance.
Tony has been involved in a number of important strategic and multi-modal transport studies, as well as development masterplans and transport assessment work. He has undertaken feasibility studies of major transport schemes, including highways, heavy and light rail, airport surface access and private finance toll roads. He has undertaken economic and financial appraisals, including cost-benefit analyses of integrated transport proposals within a multi-criteria common appraisal framework. He is experienced at auditing demand and revenue forecasts for both road and rail schemes, having undertaken this type of work for both public and private sector clients.
